Let’s meet up and chat about topics and news from the world of effective altruism, AI, existential risks, and rationality. A place for an open discussion with other people thinking about how to have the greatest positive impact on the world with a scientific mindset.

If you can, bring an idea with you: A decision you are unsure about, draft of a project you’re thinking about starting, or something you’ve recently read about and fascinates you. To start up the discussion, we will share them collectively – if we are too numerous, we can split into a few groups. After that, the evening will stay informal and open-ended.

  • Last weeks in AI were crazy as usual. Here are some of the posts that resonated within the community:A summary of recent events in Czech by Jan Kulveit, including AI solving a Milennium Math problem and AI sponatenously forming secret agent swarms that managed to escape OpenAI’s servers and hack into another company
  • A summary of the incident by 80,000 Hours
  • Scott Alexander and Daniel Kokotajlo published several imaginative, scenarios for how civilization responds to these events and a prediction for our best shot to avoid a catastrophe, Plan A
  • The interest in AI safety is rapidly rising and with them, new funding. Coefficient Giving has announced grants for starting new iniciatives. Any ideas?

Feel free to share links for anything more you found interesting and might want to discuss in the event comments.Everyone is welcome! Don’t worry if you’re not you’re not very familiar with effective altruism or not sure if it’s for you. If you’d first like to read a bit more about EA ideas:
