EA long hike: Děčín

Think our normal hikes are too short? Want to see gorgeous Elbe sandstone while talking to other nerds about effective altruism, artificial intelligence and philosophy? You’re in luck! This time we’ll travel to Děčín and hike the Kaňon Labe trail. Please note that this hike is more challenging than usual – about 16 km, 400 m elevation. I expect the hike to take about 6 hours, plus we’ll spend 2×80 min on the train.

• Meeting time: 10:21 at the platform at hlavní nádraží (Can’t find us? Call Alžběta.)
• Train arrives at Děčín hl. n. at 11.58. (Want to meet us there? Let Alžběta know.)

• Hiking is always a bit unpredictable – please understand there’s a small chance we might need to alter the route, get caught in bad weather or miss the return train.
• Return train: 17.57 from Děčín hlavní nádraží (rj 177 Berliner)
• Return train arrives at Praha Holešovice at 19.15.
• Seat reservations: I will buy my ticket on Thursday 14th May and post my seat reservation details here so that you can all buy a ticket near me. I strongly recommend you buy a ticket Thursday night / Friday morning if you want to socialise with other EAs on the train.

What to bring?

  Note that this train only stops at Holešovice, not hlavní nádraží.
